Lucky enough to explore the world with both family and high school friends, Karen developed a love for travelling as a teenager. She has been writing about her experiences for five years. Her features and reviews have appeared in magazines such as Grazia, Sunday Times Travel Magazine, Wedding and Conde Nast Brides; newspapers such as the Sunday Mirror and websites like AllinLondon.co.uk, Attitude.co.uk, Handbag, Destinations Travel Magazine and Ask Men UK. Her travel blog, Travel Eye, is currently hosted on the Huffington Post UK. She also writes for inflight magazines such as Cathay Pacific’s Discovery.
Karen is currently exploring the world in search of educational and inspirational travel pieces. Her articles often focus on exploring remote regions, conservation and wildlife protection, and the recovery of nations following natural disasters.
Karen began writing professionally over 13 years ago – starting her career as a work experience girl for teen pop mags Smash Hits and TV Hits and men’s lifestyle bible FHM (R.I.P). From there she went on to intern and freelance at Sneak and Bliss before spending four years as heat‘s Deputy TV & Reviews Editor. Since then, she has written for top publications both past and present – from women’s titles such as Closer, Cosmopolitan, Fabulous, Hello!, OK! and New! to newspapers, including First News, Daily Mirror, News of the World, Star on Sunday and The Sun. In 2014, Karen took on the role of Contributing Editor at Sunday Mirror’s Notebook magazine. She has also had the pleasure of writing biogs and tour programmes – and carrying out media training – for some awesome bands and artists like McFly and One Direction.
Having learnt about CMS, SEO and social network management while working at heatworld.com, Karen was brought in as editor of the official X Factor website on itv.com in 2013. She has regularly written website content and managed social networks for music artists, magazine publications and Mirror.co.uk. In 2014, she launched a brand new website for Microsoft‘s Skype in Media campaign. She also spent a year as Music and TV Editor at Dad.info.
